Southern Germany has more self‑paying medical cannabis patients per capita. Still, Bloomwell’s data indicate that eastern states are catching up fast since cannabis was removed from the BtMG in April 2024. According to the latest Cannabis Barometer, the average out‑of‑pocket price for medical cannabis flower has fallen to around four euros per gram in Q2 2026. Bloomwell’s analysis suggests that nearly half of patients live more than ten kilometers from one of just 271 specialized pharmacies, underscoring how important telemedicine and mail‑order fulfillment have become for maintaining access.
