A huge flower makes an impressive picture, but is bigger necessarily better? In this new HarvestED episode, Max from Royal Queen Seeds joins me for a candid, playful conversation about bud size and the assumptions that surround it.
We went a little beyond the title this time: thirteen beginner questions in about ten minutes. The discussion moves from genetics versus grower skill to the language of bud boosters and the appeal of one enormous flower compared with smaller, more consistent ones.
One of the most interesting moments is Max’s personal preference for smaller, consistent flowers. It shifts the conversation away from size as a trophy and toward what people actually value. Questions about light, fertilizer, CO2, and mold add context without turning the interview into a promise of a particular result.
For me, the episode’s strength is that it makes room for questions people might feel awkward asking. The humor opens the door; the conversation gives viewers more to think about than a “bigger is better” headline.
