CTECH Media LLC believes readers, sponsors, and the broader cannabis industry deserve clarity about how artificial intelligence is used in the content we publish. This AI Transparency Policy explains how we use generative AI tools, what we don’t do with them, and what we require of sponsors who submit content to CannabisTech.com.
Our Approach
CannabisTech.com is a human-led editorial publication. Generative AI may assist our team with research, summarization, outlining, copy-editing, or formatting — but it does not replace the judgment, reporting, and accountability of our editors and contributors. Every article we publish is reviewed and approved by a human editor.
What We Do
- Disclose meaningful AI use. Where AI plays a meaningful role in drafting or producing an article, video script, or other content, we disclose that to readers in or near the byline.
- Verify facts. All editorial content — including any that is AI-assisted — is fact-checked and verified by human editors before publication.
- Use real imagery in journalism. CannabisTech.com does not use AI-generated images in investigative journalism, product reviews, or any content where visual authenticity is material to the story. Photographs, screenshots, and documentation in those categories are authentic.
- Label AI-generated illustrations. Where we use AI-generated illustrations for decorative or conceptual purposes outside of journalism, we label them as such.
- Honor source confidentiality. We do not paste confidential source material, embargoed information, or sensitive vendor data into third-party AI tools.
What We Don’t Do
- We do not publish AI-generated content as if it were written by a human reporter.
- We do not fabricate quotes, sources, statistics, or events using AI.
- We do not use AI to impersonate any real person, vendor, or executive.
- We do not allow our editorial content to be used to train third-party AI models without prior written permission from CTECH Media LLC.
Standards for Sponsors and Vendors
Sponsors and vendors submitting content to CannabisTech.com — including sponsored articles, Marketplace listings, and advertorial content — agree to the following:
- Disclose AI use. Sponsors must disclose any use of generative AI tools in the creation of submitted content, including text and images.
- Submit for editorial review. All sponsored content — AI-assisted or not — undergoes human editorial review by CTECH Media LLC for accuracy, compliance with cannabis regulations, and alignment with our quality standards.
- Accept editorial decisions. CTECH Media LLC reserves the right to edit, reject, or request revision of any sponsored content that does not meet our standards or contains undisclosed AI use.
These standards are incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service.
Our Standards
- Accuracy. All editorial content is fact-checked and verified by human editors.
- Authenticity. News, investigations, and product reviews feature real photographs and authentic documentation.
- Transparency. Any AI use — in text or images — is disclosed to readers and sponsors.
- Compliance. Our content and advertising policies comply with FTC Endorsement Guides, applicable cannabis regulations, and emerging state AI disclosure laws.
- Reader Trust. We prioritize reader confidence by maintaining clear editorial standards and being transparent about our processes.
Updates to This Policy
The AI landscape changes quickly. We review this AI Transparency Policy at least annually and update it as our practices, applicable laws, and industry standards evolve. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
