E1011 Labs has just launched the iven™ Dry Herb Vaporizer, a compact and affordably priced device promising heat-not-burn technology. It boasts temperature control (four settings), heat-resistant materials, and a sleek design that slides comfortably into a pocket for use on the go. E1011 Labs designed this device to ensure we can all “take iven and the power of vaporization” to wherever life takes us.
Its portability and comfortable design are definite wins, especially packed with temperature control options (many brands with this feature feel clunkier in the hand). The casing design is also more sophisticated than the usual cheap herb vaporizers bedazzled with logos and distractions. The E1011 Labs iven™ exterior is simple, smooth, and elevated.
The pre-set session lengths of two to three minutes might not work for daily consumers, which is also true for the battery life (under 30 minutes). But, for occasional tokers who only need a few puffs to feel the effects, the iven™ is a dream.

Key Features
One-Click Control
For everyone overwhelmed with the choices and customizations presented by their dry herb vape (think Pax and DaVinci), the iven offers an unexpected level of simplicity. One button to control the temperatures, with four dialed-in temperature settings.
The temperatures are also color-coded, although, to be honest, I might have to carry around a cheatsheet to remember what each color represents (yellow is pre-set as the coldest temperature, below even blue and green). Temperature settings range between 360°F to 440°F.
In any case, with or without my cheatsheet, there is really no way to seriously mess this vaporizing technology up. From what I know, everyday, casual consumers tend to stick with one setting no matter what strain they pack inside.
Priced Right
Most temperature-controlled vapes released thus far are expensive. With brands embedding more extensive controls, this has subsequently translated into a higher upfront investment. With its launch, the iven has easily become one of the most affordable dry herb vaporizers with a proper temperature control feature.
It’s only $59.99 (plus, get an extra 10% off by using the code CANNABISTECH10 at checkout). In comparison, the Pax Plus is $250, and the DaVinci IQC $269. Of course, I would place these two more expensive options at a more technical tier of herb vaporizers, better suited for connoisseurs. But if you don’t need all the bells and whistles offered by these high-end models (I don’t), then why should you have to shell out the extra money?
App-Free
Unlike some more established brands mentioned here, everything about the iven is controlled on the device itself, not via an app.
I’m willing to bet that a few people (myself included) have no desire to download yet another app onto their phone just to mess around with vape customizations. Most of us just want to get down to business. For me, an app-free device is a bonus feature.
Compact
This is a hyper-portable vaporizer. In fact, one of the features I love most about this dry herb vaporizer is the compact design. As someone much more familiar with the Pax and DaVinci designs, I found the iven a lot more comfortable to hold. It’s a smooth 4.26″-long device with nicely curved edges to fit perfectly into your hand or pocket.
As someone in her mid-30s who is very solidly millennial, I found the iven’s™ design cooler and younger somehow. It’s so light and small it feels almost like a vape pen rather than a dry herb vaporizer. This is a vape device that’s cool enough for Generation Z but adaptable enough to fit my decidedly less-cool millennial energy.
Performance
The Vape Experience
Overall, this vaporizer offers a very nice end-to-end experience. Filling the chamber with fresh, dried flowers is easy enough: Just pop off the bottom and pack inside. The temperature controls and settings are simple to grasp and impossible to mess up. The device rapidly gets up to temperature, and then each of the four pre-set temperatures has a set duration (two to three minutes). Again, this is dummy-proof.
I assume these short session time-outs are an automatic safety shutoff feature that also protects the device’s short battery life. The shutoff may also be the estimated time to get through what’s in the chamber.
As a very light toker, short sessions work for me. But it’s worth noting that these sessions weren’t long enough for my partner, who is a daily consumer. He found he had to keep restarting to finish his session (although I haven’t confirmed whether the chamber was pooched or not throughout all his restarts).
In any case, emptying the spent flower at reload time is just as simple. Plus, cleaning is a breeze because iven™ is a flower-only vaporizer and doesn’t recommend concentrates.
Temperature Control
Again, part of the iven’s appeal is its simplicity. No messing around with an app, no being overwhelmed with near-unlimited temperature settings. As soon as you turn it on, it’ll automatically revert to the previous heat setting, or you can change it (you have five seconds to do so).
Once set, it takes about 15 to 20 seconds to set up properly. Each setting has a specific session timeout (two to three minutes, depending). Then, it shuts off.
This makes it easy for the user to play around with temperature and find the flavor and effects differences from a 360°F versus a 440°F session.
Battery Life
One of the disadvantages of the iven’s sleek, lightweight design is the limited battery life. It only took me a few sessions to run down the battery, roughly 30 minutes by my estimate. According to E1011 Labs, battery life depends on your heat setting. On the highest setting (using the highest voltage), they suggest it lasts between eight to 12 sessions. Of course, on lower settings, the battery should last longer.
For myself, someone whose tolerance has been gradually decreasing, I only need a puff or two to get what I need from each session. Therefore, everlasting battery life is not a concern. But, for any daily smokers reading this, you will likely run up against the relatively short battery life.
How does it stand up against others on the market? The iven is on par with other similarly priced vaporizers (for example, most G-Pens have a 30-minute battery window). Pricer models, like the DaVinci, tend to have a battery that lasts hours, not minutes.
This leads me to believe that some of the price difference between the ivens™ of the world and the DaVinci’s comes down to improved battery tech. If you want long-lasting batteries, you have to pay more for them.
Competitive Analysis
The E1011 Labs iven™ dry herb vaporizer is one of the most affordable vapes on the market offering temperature controls, and among the others in its class, it’s one of the most legitimate. In my quick scan of Grasscity’s dry herb category, iven™ is the cheapest currently on the market at just $59.99.
Importantly, though, it doesn’t feel cheap. Sure, the heavy hitters like Davinci and Pax have more heft to them, inherently making them feel more expensive. But I’d also argue these have a clunkier design.
While the iven is significantly more affordable than the high-end models, there are a few trade-offs. For starters, you have slightly less control over the temperature settings — just the four. A device like the DaVinci IQC allows almost unlimited customizations within its range, offering a lot of experimentation possible within the app.
So, for the record, I’ll say again: I have yet to meet the ‘everyday’ consumer who is messing around with temperature control as much as is possible with the DaVinci IQC.
A final difference between the iven and the high-end models is the battery life. An occasional toker, I’ll get upwards of four sessions out of a charge, while my partner might get one or two. More expensive vape models will give you up to two hours of charge at the other end of the spectrum.
