CannabisTech.com (the “Site,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is owned and operated by CTECH Media LLC, a Colorado limited liability company with its principal place of business in Grand Junction, Colorado (“CTECH Media,” “Company”). CTECH Media LLC is the controller of personal information collected through the Site and is responsible for this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information. By using CannabisTech.com, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
a) Information You Provide Directly
- Newsletter signups (EmailOctopus): When you subscribe to our newsletter or any email list, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name and any topic preferences you select.
- Contact form submissions: When you use our Contact Us page, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
- Vendor / Marketplace listing registration: Vendors and Marketplace sponsors provide business name, contact name, email, phone number, website URL, billing information for their listing fee, and any company materials or listing content they submit. The Marketplace is a directory — listings link out to the vendor’s own website, and CTECH Media LLC does not process retail sales or consumer payments on behalf of vendors.
- Sponsored content submissions: Sponsors providing editorial content submit company information, contact details, draft copy, images, and any disclosures (including any AI-tool use, per our AI Transparency Policy).
- Advertising / editorial inquiries: Email correspondence with
info@cannabistech.comoreditorial@cannabistech.comis stored as part of our normal business records. - Payment information (B2B only): Payments from vendors, sponsors, and advertisers for listings or sponsored content are processed by Stripe. We do not process consumer or retail payments through CannabisTech.com. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. Stripe processes payment data under its own privacy policy.
b) Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect:
- IP address, approximate location (city/region), browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time on page, and clickstream data.
- Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies — including those set by Google Analytics, Google Search Console, advertising partners, and affiliate networks.
- Anonymous engagement data used to improve content and site performance.
c) Information from Third Parties
- Affiliate networks may share aggregated conversion and referral data with us when a Site visitor completes a purchase through an affiliate link.
- Social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube) may share limited analytics when you engage with our content there.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site.
- Deliver newsletters, editorial updates, and other communications you’ve requested.
- Respond to inquiries, vendor applications, and sponsored-content requests.
- Process B2B Marketplace listing fees, sponsorship, and advertising transactions.
- Measure content performance and audience engagement (Google Analytics, Search Console).
- Serve and measure the performance of affiliate links and sponsored placements.
- Comply with legal obligations, including FTC disclosure rules and applicable cannabis-industry advertising regulations.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues.
We do not sell your personal information in the traditional sense. We may share data with service providers and advertising partners as described in Section 4, which certain U.S. state laws (including California and Colorado) treat as a “sale” or “share.” You have the right to opt out — see Section 7.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK Visitors)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are:
- Consent — for newsletter signups, optional cookies, and any marketing communications.
- Contract — to fulfill Marketplace, vendor, and sponsored-content agreements.
- Legitimate interests — to operate the Site, prevent fraud, and analyze aggregate traffic.
- Legal obligation — to meet tax, regulatory, and disclosure requirements.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as follows:
- Service providers acting on our behalf: EmailOctopus (email delivery), Stripe (payments), Siteground (hosting), Zoho (business email/CRM), QuickBooks (accounting), Google (Analytics, Search Console), and similar vendors. These providers are contractually limited to using your information solely to perform services for us.
- Advertising and affiliate partners that set cookies or pixels on the Site for measurement and attribution.
- Sponsors and advertisers in aggregate, non-identifying form (e.g., total impressions, click-through rates).
- Legal and safety disclosures — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CTECH Media LLC, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of CTECH Media LLC assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
We do not share personal information with cannabis cultivators, dispensaries, or product manufacturers for their independent marketing use.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, Search Console, and similar tools.
- Advertising and affiliate cookies — used to attribute affiliate conversions and serve relevant promotions.
You can control cookies through your browser settings or our cookie banner (where applicable). Disabling cookies may limit Site functionality. For Google Analytics opt-out, install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid opt-out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under applicable U.S. state laws.
6. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above:
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression-list retention.
- Vendor and Marketplace accounts: for the life of the relationship plus seven (7) years for tax and accounting purposes.
- Contact form submissions: up to twenty-four (24) months.
- Analytics data: per Google Analytics retention settings (default: 14 months).
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.
- Receive a portable copy of your information.
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information and of targeted advertising.
- Withdraw consent (e.g., unsubscribe from emails) at any time.
- Appeal a denied privacy request.
- Lodge a complaint with a regulator (e.g., your state attorney general, the Colorado Attorney General, or an EU/UK data protection authority).
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the rights above, plus the right to know the categories of personal information collected, sold, or shared in the prior 12 months. Colorado Residents (Colorado Privacy Act)
Colorado residents have the rights above and may submit requests by emailing info@cannabistech.com with the subject line “Colorado Privacy Request.”
EU / UK Residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and request restriction of processing. Email info@cannabistech.com with the subject line “GDPR Request.”
To submit any request, email info@cannabistech.com. We will verify your identity using the email on file or other reasonable means and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
8. Age Restrictions
CannabisTech.com is intended for users 21 years of age or older, consistent with adult-use cannabis regulations in most U.S. jurisdictions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact info@cannabistech.com and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encrypted hosting via Siteground, TLS for data in transit, and access controls — to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Transfers
CannabisTech.com is hosted in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the U.S., which may have data protection laws different from those of your country.
11. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
The Site contains affiliate links, sponsor links, embedded YouTube videos, and links to third-party websites. Those third parties have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. 12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the Site or via email to subscribers. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
